Ever been on a diet? Me too. I’ve been on a diet for the past 3 months, and it’s the first time in my life.
I used to think weight loss was impossible for me.
I live to eat, and as long as there’s tasty food in front of me, I’m happy.
The thought of missing out on my favorite treats was unimaginable 🙀.
Yet this time, it’s different.
Of course, I want to lose that big belly (though so far, it hasn’t been very successful).
But what’s more important to me is learning to keep myself healthy as I age.
So I signed up for a weight loss app for the first time in my life.
In the process of dieting, I realized that when my mind is focused on avoiding the “bad” food, my focus concentrates on what’s painful.
It then had a grip on me and often backfired.
Sound familiar?
On the contrary, when I shift my mind to what’s healthy AND tasty, I enjoy the meal so much more.
The biggest distinction I’ve drawn from this is the idea of running away vs. running toward.
Do you see the difference?
Running away is fear-based. It’s like escaping a bad job. You rush to the next offer, and history often repeats itself.
Running toward, however, is love-driven. It’s like starting a new job you’re excited about. It’s much more fun and effortless.
This shift in mindset completely changed my experience.
- I have fun guessing the calorie intake with my partner.
- I learn to cook tasty low carb meals.
- I enjoy an oatmeal raisin cookie with satisfaction instead of guilt.
How about you?
Are you running away from something?
And, how can you find something you want to run toward instead?
Love, Wen
