“What would it look like if you signed up for the unlimited yoga pass?” my coach asked.
My body flinched.
“It’s $169 a month,” I replied. “That’s way more than I’m comfortable spending.”
There it was—my old pattern:
Ease into it. Be cautious. Don’t spend too much.
And I knew exactly where it came from.
My mom grew up without her parents.
Her siblings raised her.
Later, the company she worked at for years went bankrupt—no severance, no safety net.
She lived frugally. Out of necessity. Out of fear.
And I inherited that mindset:
– Always reach for the cheapest option
– Never buy name-brand anything
– High bills drain me—it feels like they suck the energy right out of me.
– Always. Be. Saving.
So when my coach said, “If you want change, DO THE OPPOSITE,”
I couldn’t shake it off.
I took a deep breath—and signed up for the unlimited.
It seemed small… but it shifted something big.
✅ I started exploring new teachers and classes
✅ I felt abundance in my body
✅ I started saying yes to what expands me (instead of just what’s safe)
It started with yoga.
Then, buying what I truly want at groceries.
Then, Michelin-star meals. (Thanks to my partner for the stretch 😊)
Then… investing $24K to work with a coach.
Each step built evidence that spending with intention doesn’t collapse my world.
It expands it.
I feel more abundant.
More worthy.
More trusting of myself.
Because abundance isn’t just a number.
It’s a mindset. A relationship. A practice.
So let me ask you:
Where are you in your relationship with money?
And what would it look like to do the opposite—just once?
Loving you,
Wen
